Ethics

Ethics is the study of how one uses his or her personal freedom (or collective freedom) and the impact of behavior on others.

We can use our freedom to act lawfully, unlawfully, or responsibly. In our democratic society, we decide on laws to govern our personal and collective behavior. These laws define the boundaries of our rights with others.

We Believe in Acting Responsibly

At the present time we have the personal and collective right to consume natural resources at an unsustainable rate. This raises the question of whether we should maintain our rights or act with a sense of responsibility for future generations.

Ramblers Way believes in acting responsibly.

Sustainability

“Sustainability” is the principle by which we seek to conserve our natural resources or consume them such that the rate of their renewability and their consumption is equal so as to provide for future generations.

Ramblers Way Sustainability Pledge

Considering our responsibility to these two ethical values of sustainability – ecological and economic – we have made an ethical commitment to ourselves and to others with The Ramblers Way Farm Sustainability Pledge:

  1. We pledge, first, to surprise and delight customers with fine apparel from natural, renewable fibers for their joy and comfort:
  2. We pledge to operate our business with policies and practices which impact minimally our environment with a goal to become carbon neutral by 2013.
  3. We pledge to use American raw materials, manufacturing, and labor for all our products and services for 100% American made products.
  4. We pledge to operate in a socially responsible and ethically minded manner internally and externally, and will give 10 % of our profits and 5% of our work time to volunteerism.
  5. We pledge to work creatively and transparently with others to learn how to achieve these ethical sustainability aims profitably.

OUR Ethical Guiding Principles

Our five point pledge will be managed by 5 Ethical Guiding Principles:

  • The first principle of sustainability is to refrain from use.
  • The second principle is to restrain use.
  • The third is to reuse, recycle, renew.
  • The fourth is to measure use.
  • The fifth is to reward sustainable behavior.
