An extraordinary all-purpose base layer, this classic camisole style slip offers exceptional comfort and light-weight warmth. Produced sustainably on American soil, this wool comes from sheep raised on American farms by the founders of Tom’s of Maine. The natural fiber wicks away moisture, keeping the clothing feeling like it’s just come out of the dryer. The wool naturally repels odors, and is fully machine-washable through an all-natural enzyme to resist shrinking and keep its shape. This comfortwear garment uses natural plant dyes and includes no harsh treatments, bleaches or chemicals, so it won’t irritate your skin. Worn underneath a dress as an ultra soft base layer during the day or as amazingly soft sleepwear, this superfine wool camisole slip is a wardrobe essential. With thin straps for a modern look, this slip fits close to the body without clinging. Falls to thigh (37”). Made in America.
Flat, non-itchy seams. Fitted. Machine washable and tumble dry.
The secret is in the breed: Rambouillet sheep, a cousin to Merino and prevalent in America’s West, grows a very fine, thin, long, and durable fiber. We spin this superfine wool fiber to create a very fine yarn which allows for our soft, lightweight knitted wool comfortwear. A “worsted” yarn construction keeps fibers parallel to avoid the typical wool “scratchy” feel. Our unique Windspun™ process removes any excess fiber to avoid potential piling.
Our commitment to work with nature drives us to find solutions in color from natural plant dyes. The rich colors of our wool comfortwear comes from the dried extracts of plants, like indigo, red madder, osage, and logwood. The process requires hands-on, artisan care and insures a truly unique piece of clothing. Its beautiful, colorfast, and easy on the environment.
From farm to you, 100% of our product process comes from American farms, factories and hands. We grow, manufacture, cut, sew, dye, launder and ship on American soil in American towns from Montana to Massachusetts to Maine.
We use wool from 100% American sheep ranches, operate a low carbon emission process in manufacturing, package with recycled materials, and are developing local retail distribution. Antimicrobial properties of wool require only occasional laundering to save on environmental impact.
We provide 10% of our profits and 5% of work time for volunteering to local environmental conservation, human need, arts, and education.
As “ethical entrepreneurs," we pass on to younger leaders how to use the free enterprise system to create goodness in responsible products and businesses while creating good for themselves. In two books and two businesses, we are passing on how to succeed with values-centered leadership in a socially responsible business model.
