Opened in late 2016, the Portsmouth store at 100 Market Street was formerly home to another retail store, and in the spirit of New England thrift (and sustainability, of course!), we reused their mirrors and LED track lighting. Additionally, the fixtures and cash register counter are made of reclaimed wood. Behind the cash register, you’ll find antique louvers from a local church, and under your feet is hemlock wood flooring, reclaimed from an old barn in Vermont.
If you live in New England you’re not far from a Ramblers Way store. Read on to learn more about our unique locations, each offering a great selection of sustainable clothing in a store designed specifically with the local community in mind. It’s a chance to feel the softness of our lightweight jersey knits for yourself.

Also opened in 2016, our Hanover store at 37 South Main Street is located in a historic building and supports the Dartmouth community. In fact, our Dartmouth Jacket, a men’s blazer exclusive to our stores, was inspired by the location and the College.
Check out the beautiful terrazzo flooring – imagine our surprise when we ripped up old carpeting to find this gem. With a little restoration, it was ready for a second life. As at our Portsmouth store, the cash register counter is made from reclaimed wood, as is some of the shelving holding our clothing. A special touch brought over from our HQ town of Kennebunk, Maine are the elm platforms, created from a 200-year-old tree that was slated to be cut down. Our mannequins stand atop these platforms.
Close to our offices in Kennebunk, as well as founder Tom and Kate Chappell’s home, the Kennebunk store at 119 Main Street is a cozy little spot. It’s our first store, opened when we realized we needed to share our soft wool clothing with people face-to-face. It’s heated using the warmth of the earth through geothermal energy and is LEED gold certified.
Our Portland store is our newest, located at 75 Market Street. If you missed our grand opening on November 9, come visit us Tuesday through Saturday to see our stitchers in action in our in-store production space. Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 10:00 to 7:00, and Sunday 10:00 to 6:00.
